Clearly, goaltender Cam Talbot didn't like the fact that the Minnesota Wild offered a new contract to goaltender Marc-André Fleury and, after complaining publicly, he was traded to the Ottawa Sens!
In the end, against all odds, Fleury is now the undisputed #1 goalie for the Wild and he will now have a young goalie with him.
Indeed, in exchange of the veteran Talbot, Minnesota receives the young Filip Gustavsson. This is a one for one deal. Please note that no percentage of salary is retained in this transaction.
Gustavsson, 24, has a 10-13-3 career NHL record, a 3.12 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.
Talbot, 35, has maintained a 32-12-4 record, in 2021-22 with a 2.76 GAA and .911 SVR.
There are many reactions because Talbot really seems to have had a special reaction, following the Fleury acquisition, and he will have finally made it out of Minnesota.
Who do you think won the trade?
