Recently sent to the Laval Rocket, young defenseman Mattias Norlinder scored his first North American goal on Wednesday against the Manitoba Moose.
But aside from that feat, it was his overall performance that caught the attention of many and made it clear that Norlinder's development would be on North American rinks and not back in his native country.
In fact, analyst Bruno Gervais analyzed the situation at length during his latest segment on On jase and he's holding nothing but positives about seeing Mattias Norlinder play in Laval.
Indeed, the priority, according to him, is for Norlinder to learn to play the North American style, mainly on the defensive side of the puck and that will come through the AHL.
Moreover, Norlinder also showed, for one of the first times since he crossed the Atlantic, that he was able to be patient with the puck and to make the right plays in possession, which is also a sign of progress and confidence.
In conclusion, the main interested party will have to get used to the idea that playing in Laval, within the Habs' organization, is a much better path for him than staying in his native Sweden.
