Everyone remembers Jiri Sekac, who was supposed to become a powerhouse hockey player, according to the comments at the time. He had all the elements to succeed in the National Hockey League, but his journey with the Montreal Canadiens was only 50 games.

That season was full of promise, however, as he collected 16 points, including seven goals in the 2014-15 campaign. He was 22 years old at the time, which is very young, especially when you come from Europe... But Michel Therrien and him, it didn't really work!

He then left for Anaheim, in return for Devante Smith-Pelly, and it didn't work out as planned. After two assists in 11 games, he went to the Hawks and then to Arizona a month later.

A very chaotic journey, while we expected much more from this winger, who had everything to become a power forward. But it all went wrong. Sekac hit a wall...

In hindsight, the former Canadiens explained the "why of how" it did not work for him in the NHL:

"I was young and crazy (young and wild). I didn't act like a professional. I thought it was easy for me to play in the NHL. I didn't appreciate it enough. Two years earlier, I was a player that nobody knew, practically, and then I had a good season in the KHL before I got to the NHL. It was a tough situation to deal with and I lost my way. That's what happened!"

Genuine, honest and very candid. I tip my hat to Jiri Sekac, who was not afraid of words!
