He simply made the statement during a conversation with the host:

"I will no longer play (hockey in the NHL). I am retiring." - Nate Thompson

So, Thompson, a former player much loved by Montreal Canadiens fans, announced his retirement from hockey at the age of 38.

Nate Thompson played for the Habs during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

Throughout his NHL career, the forward accumulated 164 points in 844 games.

He concluded his career with the Ontario Reign, the Los Angeles Kings' AHL affiliate, last season.
