Big surprise on waivers as two young defensemen drafted in the first round are available

We have just learned the identity of the players placed on waivers on Tuesday and there is a big surprise.

Knowing that the Montreal Canadiens currently have the first pick, it's always interesting to watch, because Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton can instantly claim the player of their choice.

And on top of that, Gorton admitted that the organization plans to use the waiver wire to improve the club.

Check out the names currently available:

Collin Delia (a goalie)
Brady Keeper
Noah Juulsen (former CH first round pick)
John Stevens
Guillaume Brisebois

Zane McIntyre (a goalie)

Montreal :
Mitchell Stephens
Anthony Richard
Alex Belzile

New Jersey :
Tyler Wotherspoon
Robbie Russo
Joseph Gambardella
Jeremy Groleau

Taylor Fedun

Nick Wolff
Oskar Steen (one of the Bruins' top prospects)
Connor Carrick

Brendan Gaunce

Brett Seney
Dylan Sikura
Luke Philp
Nicolas Beaudin

We want to focus on this last name. He is the surprise, according to many. Nicolas Beaudin is a 22 year old defenseman from Chateauguay who was drafted in the first round in 2018 (by the Chicago Blackhawks).

He has done well in the NHL, amassing 6 points in 22 games, and maintaining a +1 positive differential, which is a feat in Chicago. Beaudin has also been productive with the Drummondville Voltigeurs (125 points in his last 121 games).

Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will certainly evaluate Beaudin, but will he be claimed? To be continued!

Still, we're talking about a promising 22-year-old defenseman, a 2018 first-round pick, who surprisingly finds himself in the mix. Many experts believe that he has no business being on waivers and that he will be claimed. We will have the answer tomorrow!

"The Habs have to claim him!"
