Anthony Beauvillier and the Montreal Canadiens: a big turnaround in sight?

Traded on Monday to the Vancouver Canucks in the deal that sent Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders, Quebec forward Anthony Beauvillier says he's excited to be joining the BC organization, even though it's hard for him to leave the Islanders.

He will no doubt want to regain his scoring touch, having managed only nine this season in 49 games, but as Charles-Alexis Brisebois of Danslescoulisses.com reports, Beuvillier will become a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Will he sign a new deal with the Canucks by then?

Obviously it's way too early to answer that question, but we do know that the Habs have always been interested in him, especially when Marc Bergevin was the GM.

And even after the arrival of Kent Hughes, the interest in the Quebec forward has not diminished, as this article from Montreal Hockey Now published last summer relates.

But now, having just been traded by the Islanders, Renaud Lavoie has added his two cents to those rumors linking Anthony Beauvillier with the Habs.

During his appearance on BPM Sports, the journalist did not rule out that the latter would agree with the CH as a free agent in the summer of 2024 and he mentioned that it could be a perfect timing for the organization to add more Quebec players to the team.

Everything falls into place for more Quebecers on the Habs.

Note that another Quebecer, namely Pierre-Luc Dubois, will also be a free agent in the summer of 2024, which would mean that Kent Hughes would have the chance to bring two Quebecers at the same time within the organization. As we know, the rumors linking Dubois with the CH are becoming more and more persistent.

Could we see a press conference in the summer of 2024 to announce the arrival of Pierre-Luc Dubois and Anthony Beauvillier with the CH?

It's still early to make such a prediction, but you have to admit that it would be the perfect time to add two Quebec skaters to the organization.

One thing is for sure, it would be quite a turnaround for Beauvilier, who just arrived in Vancouver, but many sources believe that he is a serious target for the Montreal Canadiens.
