Alex Ovechkin just signed a contract with a professional soccer team

It is well known that Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin loves soccer.

He's never made a secret of it, and he's even become a part owner of the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League.

Well we just learned that Ovechkin is now taking his involvement in the soccer world a step further, as he has just signed a one game contract with a professional soccer club.

However, the game in question here (the contract) will be a simple friendly game, out of competition, but still! It will be interesting to follow and above all, it's a great publicity and visibility coup for the team in question.


According to Sport24.ru, it is with FC Dynamo Moscow, his hometown club, that Alex Ovechkin has signed this famous one-game contract.

There is also an opening for the mythical #8 to sign a slightly longer contract, from what we understand.

In short, Alex Ovechkin will be on the field, for a friendly match of professional soccer, between FC Amkal and FC Dynamo Moscow.

It is not yet known what position Ovechkin will play. The game is scheduled for June 25 and we are really looking forward to getting our hands on some video footage of the game.

Interestingly, Ovechkin's father Mikhail is a former top soccer player.
