Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan recently opened up in an interview about the current environment and he made some pretty worrying revelations.

His organization really had to drastically increase security around the team's Russian players, especially around star player Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin (and his family) are receiving serious threats right now and that's why they now have enhanced security.

«People want to go after them and their families... It's worrying. Their families are there, here, and have houses. The situation is difficult. He's a good person, he's an emotional individual and he takes things personally. His family grew up here, his children come from here. Because of his status, he was placed in a difficult context to control. This situation may not be what he had imagined. It's hard for him." - MacLellan

We therefore understand that Ovi is currently going through very difficult times and that individuals really want to attack him and his family. On top of that, he is under a lot of pressure coming from here, in North America, he also receives a lot of pressure from Russia, from his family, in short, from everywhere.

The Caps GM is clear. He does not at all compare Ovechkin's «misfortunes» to those experienced by the people, in Ukraine, but he still had to talk about it.
