Nick Suzuki knows the art of putting words into action. Since the beginning of the season, too many experts were questioning his immense talent, his role as a first center and his role as a leader. Let's calm down, okay? Suzuki has been the face of the team since the beginning of the season, so why all this nonsense about him?
It doesn't matter. Suzuki self-flagellated following the loss to the Anaheim Ducks last Sunday, and then true to form, he came out VERY strong. He confirmed that he is a character player, so a great leader, right? "Suzie" scored the winning goal, had two assists and won 68% of his faceoffs. Colossal!
Yes, there was his own words against himself, but there was also that meeting with one of the assistant coaches, Trevor Letowski. This one-on-one meeting was very beneficial as Letowski showed him videos of himself "disappearing" from the fights. It paid off, huh? The little number 14 had his best game of the season against the Wings.
This scenario shows that Suzuki is really a natural leader and that he has what it takes to wear the heavy letter "C". For the Habs, it's even heavier because the Montreal market wants it... and it's Shea Weber, the current captain, the best of his generation.
Suzuki as captain? Yes, I want him!
