After 32 games with the Sabres and 21 games with the Habs in regular seasons, plus 21 playoff games in 2021, Eric Staal is still waiting patiently at home to get a deal with an NHL team.

He is still looking for a job, as he has confirmed his desire to join a team. Staal is no longer the electrifying player he once was, but he still has gas in the tank. He was very useful during the last series with Corey Perry and Joel Armia.
That said, the latest rumors about Staal could see him sign a contract by the end of the month, with several teams around the league reportedly interested in his warrior services. His agent, Rick Curran, said that 3 or 4 teams were in serious discussions with him.
We don't know the identity of the clubs, but we just have to analyze who needs depth, experience and/or to fill jerseys due to injuries. Payroll should not be left out of the equation. Logically, Staal should sign a one-year, $750,000 deal.
To be continued, as the other guy would say!
