Since we know that the Montreal Canadiens have the first overall pick in the upcoming NHL draft, many observers and pundits have been speculating on who Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton should draft.
Shane Wright? Juraj Slafkovsky? Logan Cooley?
Personally, I always thought that the choice of the CH leaders was clear and that it was going to be Wright.
However, according to what was reported today from Otto Hascak, an assistant GM from Slovakia, we now have reason to believe that the choice is not yet made for Kent Hughes.
In particular, the Canadiens' executives would have met with the Slovak team's staff to discuss the famous Juraj Slafkovsky.
Slafkovsky would be seriously considered to be THE choice of the Montreal Canadiens, that is to say the first one in total.
"There were a lot of scouts at the World Championship. I met with all the ones from Montreal, who will speak first in the draft. I'm close with them. We talked and Slafkovsky is very close to being a very high draft pick. - Otto Hascak
It's nice to see Hughes and Gorton doing their homework and you have to take this with a grain of salt, but Hascak seems convincing and convincing. We have an interesting clue here from a well-placed source.
Stay tuned!
Would you be disappointed if the CH drafted Juraj Slafkovsky?
