Before the press conference offered by Marc Bergevin, Paul Wilson gave precisions to indicate that the general manager's contract negociation was going to happen at the end of the year. What does that mean? That he is already elsewhere? That both sides want to take the time to study the picture?
After seeing him in conference this morning, the state of Marc Bergevin does not seem to have improved, he still seemed exhausted. We can even say more than exhausted. Perhaps the man needs a long rest away from the airwaves and in peace and quiet. Being the general manager (or goaltender) of the Montreal Canadiens is one of the hardest jobs in Quebec.
Of course, Marc Bergevin said that he could see that Carey was not well when he left the ice after his skating sessions, but he only learned the sad news on Wednesday night. He was surprised! However, he didn't take any chances by claiming Samuel Montembeault from waivers. What a relief that Jake Allen was protected by the Montreal Canadiens!
Note that Bergevin did not know that Price suffered from mental illness when he claimed Montembeault. Price will be absent at least 30 days. Bergevin suspected that something was wrong, but he did not expect such news.
