Xavier Simoneau was one of nine players selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2021 Draft. He was the 191st player selected during this draft, becoming the second Quebec player selected in succession by the Habs organization (after Joshua Roy).
Simoneau is 20 years old, 5'7" and is entering his fifth QMJHL season. After four seasons with Drummondville, he is now with the Charlottetown Islanders. So far, he has 13 points in seven games. On Saturday, he scored his 4th goal of the season and it was spectacular.
How sweet is that goal, you tell me!
Right now, he's ranked 13th in the league in scoring, then 2nd on his own team, behind 20-year-old defenseman Noah Laaouan. Laaouan is a scoring machine, though he has never been drafted.
