An Oilers source predicts Leon Draisaitl's departure, and we know where the star player would like to play. It's a team you're quite familiar with, let's say.
Monday night, the Lightning were eliminated by the Panthers. That was enough for rumors linking Steven Stamkos to the Montreal Canadiens to begin.
On BPM Sports, Stéphane Gonzalez and Georges Laraque discussed this possibility. But the discussion quickly changed course when the former NHL player dropped a bomb about the team that drafted him.
Leon Draisaitl with the Boston Bruins?
Indeed, someone close to the Oilers organization told Laraque that Leon Draisaitl does not intend to sign a contract extension with Edmonton.
That's not all, the one who could become an unrestricted free agent as soon as the summer of 2025 hit would really like to join the Boston Bruins if he had the opportunity!
You can understand that following this bombshell from the former NHL player, many started to dream.
"He wants to be the top center on a team [...] The team's fate this year will determine what happens with him," said Georges Laraque.

The former NHL giant is adamant, if Draisaitl really tested free agency, Kent Hughes would have no choice but to enter the derby. He could be the new Artemi Panarin for Jeff Gorton and become the cornerstone of the Canadiens for many years to come.
Still speculative, his co-host Stéphane Gonzalez recalled Kent Hughes' words during his last review. The GM had mentioned that the upcoming summer (2024) was going to be important, but not as much as the next one (2025). Did he already have big visions for the summer of 2025?
