Despite the very solid start to the season by the Detroit Red Wings, it can be said that it wasn't the debut that defenseman Jeff Petry hoped for there.
The former Montreal Canadien had some challenging games before being outright removed from his team's lineup by his new head coach. (healthy scratch)
He then became the 7th defenseman on his team.
As if that wasn't enough, upon his return to the lineup, Petry was injured, and it looked quite serious.
Fortunately, there's good news.
Announcement from the Red Wings regarding the former Montreal Canadien
The Detroit organization just announced that Jeff Petry should be able to return to play as early as tomorrow for the game against the Boston Bruins.
"Jeff Petry should be ready for the game in Boston tomorrow. Ville Husso will start in net." - Carley Johnston
So, his absence wasn't very long after all, and it will be interesting to see if his return to the game can finally allow him to find his stride with his new team.
Petry, 35 years old, was limited to four games this season. He has a -1 differential, two points, in 16 minutes 58 seconds of ice time per game.
