Today a new post on X has pointed out that in the team's last game, Brad Marchand did something that could open him up to a major suspension. The actions taken by Brad Marchand usually come with incredibly harsh punishment.

During last night's Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs game Brad Marchand was making his way back to his bench. As he got to the bench a referee was in the way of his entrance to the bench. When Brad Marchand saw this he shoved the official out of the way.

In the rule book there is a specific rule that applies to players applying physical force to an official without intent to injure. Just applying that force and shoving an official in this case opens a player up to a 10-game suspension.

40.3 - Automatic Suspension - Category II - Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner, which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games.

Marchand is shoving refs now.

To this point, the NHL or the Department of Player Safety have not made a statement on this play from Brad Marchand. As a result of the league not addressing it it's unlikely that Brad Marchand receives any type of punishment.

If there are any updates provided by the NHL regarding potential punishment for Brad Marchand we will provide the latest updates on the situation.
