In recent days, a statement by Simon Boisvert has sparked a lot of discussion in Montreal. He suggested that the Canadiens could acquire star defenseman Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders via an offer sheet.
However, the Habs might not have to wait to acquire Dobson.
Instead of paying the two first-round picks, the second-round pick, and the third-round pick required in this case for an offer sheet, the Canadiens' general manager could simply try for a trade.
Development on a trade involving Noah Dobson
According to RG.org sources, Dobson is officially available for a trade, and they are even revealing the asking price.
«According to a source close to the matter, Lou Lamoriello would like to get a goal scorer in return for his defenseman.
He is available for a trade, and he is a piece the team is willing to part with in order to acquire the goal-scoring presence they have been searching for over the past three seasons.»

It would therefore clearly cost a
Cole Caufield to acquire Noah Dobson.
In the "goal scorer" category, the Canadiens also have
Patrik Laine, but it seems that Kent Hughes would have to add quite a bit more to make a trade involving Laine and Dobson happen.
He is earning $4 million this season but will be a restricted free agent (RFA) this summer.
