This is huge.

A lot of major information has just been released regarding the Elias Pettersson file and one of the biggest trades in recent years that was talked about behind the scenes.

According to several sources, the Canucks and the Hurricanes have had discussions about Elias Pettersson that reached a stage where he and VAN had to make serious decisions about the direction their relationship would take.

"VAN eventually decided in favor of a new attempt at extension and allowed his agents to resume negotiations."

"No extension is settled at the moment, but there is certainly a momentum in this direction."

I believe names like Martin Necas and Jesperi Kotkaniemi were mentioned on the Carolina side. This happened for the first time more than a week ago, before my initial contract offer report last week.
