Sunday evening, we discussed the possibility of Marco Rossi being traded to the Montreal Canadiens before the 2024 draft.

Fate has a way of aligning things perfectly, as the renowned David Pagnotta has just confirmed that Rossi is indeed available for a trade. Additionally, he has confirmed that the Canadiens are genuinely linked to Rossi!

This is a very intriguing development.

According to David Pagnotta, the following teams are the favorites to acquire the young Rossi:

At the moment, it seems the competition for Marco Rossi is between the Canadiens, the Flyers, the Flames, the Senators, and Utah.

Based on this information, the Canadiens might be interested in defensemen like Jordan Harris, Jayden Struble, and Justin Barron�players who are NHL-ready.

Why Marco Rossi? Because Kent Hughes has a history of acquiring players that experts didn't necessarily predict.

While everyone was talking about Pierre-Luc Dubois, he acquired Kirby Dach in 2022. And while the buzz was around names like Kaapo Kakko in 2023, he brought in Alex Newhook.

As everyone is currently talking about Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras this year, don't be surprised if it's Marco Rossi who ends up being acquired.

Marco Rossi, 22, was the 9th overall pick in 2020 (first round) and has scored 40 points in 82 games this season in the NHL with the Minnesota Wild.

Last season, he tallied 51 points in 53 games in the American Hockey League (AHL).
