Hughes announces the unexpected departure of a defensemen from the organization
The general manager of the Montreal Canadiens organization, Kent Hughes, has just announced a rather unexpected departure.
Clearly, the Laval Rocket will have a very different look next season.
We saw it briefly in a thank-you message from the Rocket, but now it's confirmed.
Olivier Galipeau leaves the Montreal Canadiens organization and signs in Germany

He is now their new number 44! We sincerely wish Olivier Galipeau the best of luck in Germany. He has played significant minutes for the Laval Rocket over the past few years.
They have acquired a good one!
It would have been intriguing to see him get his chance with the Canadiens, but clearly, he fell victim to the incredible defensive depth of the organization. (Just like Nicolas Beaudin, for that matter)
Galipeau, 27 years old, 6 feet tall, and 203 pounds, is a defenseman from L'Assomption who played 55 games with the Laval Rocket in the 2023-24 season.
I have always found him to be a cornerstone for Jean-François Houle's team on defense and a very reassuring presence. I really didn't expect him to leave, but we are confident he will do excellent work in Germany.
This will be his first experience in Europe, so it will be quite an adventure for him.
A name to follow, nonetheless.
