With the recent successes of the Montreal Canadiens, it is possible that Kent Hughes will change his mind and go into buyer mode.
It would be the first time since his arrival as general manager.
As of the time of writing, Martin St-Louis' men are only one point away from a playoff spot, and given the way the team has been playing for the past month, all hopes are allowed.
While discussions were focused on trade scenarios involving veterans who could be traded by the organization, now Canadiens fans can hope for reinforcements to help the team in the final stretch of the season.
Among the teams that will definitely be in selling mode are the Chicago Blackhawks, and according to the site The Athletic, two forwards from the team were available at a low price.
Since the Hawks are in last place in the overall standings, they will likely want to offload some veterans, and the price could be as low as a third-round pick for a guy like Ryan Donato.
A team like the Canadiens, in fact, who would like to add a forward who can occasionally score, and Kent Hughes might want to find a replacement for
Emil Heineman, who will be out for another few weeks.
The 29-year-old veteran Ryan Donato, who is on track to have the best season of his career, should also not cost very much ahead of the trade deadline on March 7.
