Canadiens Insider Reveals Exactly Which Player We Would Need to Trade for Trevor Zegras: It May Be Too Much For Kent Hughes
Even though Arber Xhekaj has become one of the crowd's favorites since joining the Canadiens, sometimes people wonder if he is part of the team's long-term plans.
After a good first season last year, the tough defenseman is having a more difficult second season and even took a trip to the American League with the Laval Rocket.
That said, for the past few weeks, his name has been circulating in various trade rumors, and it has been heard here and there that the sheriff's value might be higher than one might think, and as reported by the site Habsolumentfan.com, he could even be involved in a significant trade.
During a recent appearance on BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie stated that if Kent Hughes intends to make a major acquisition during the offseason, number 72 should be included in a potential transaction.
"What happens the day a team, let's say a team like the Anaheim Ducks calls and they say: you know what? We're ready to trade Trevor Zegras. We're 100% sure that the name Arber Xhekaj is part of the conversation. I say Zegras, but it could be someone else." Interesting!
With the first pick obtained from the Jets in return for Sean Monahan, it would not be surprising if Xhekaj is part of the package to try to bring in a young player who could potentially become one of the Canadiens' Top 6 forwards.
Remember, in the past two years, Kent Hughes acquired Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook in such personnel moves.
Will we see the same scenario in 2024?
We should have the answer by the next NHL draft, coming up next June.
