We have a major trade to announce between the Calgary Flames and the Vegas Golden Knights.

Sturdy defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. Yes, another major trade for Vegas!
On Sunday, a major trade was indeed confirmed between Calgary and Vegas.
Rasmus Andersson is heading to the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Calgary Flames are retaining 50% of his salary.
Elliotte Friedman reported the details of the return, after Darren Dreger first broke the news earlier.
No contract extension was announced as part of the trade, which adds another layer of suspense to the story.
The return to Calgary is significant and sends a very clear message about the direction of the club.
Zach Whitecloud is heading to Alberta along with a 2027 first-round pick.
There is also a 2027 second-round pick that becomes a first-round pick if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup this year.
Full Trade:

Andersson to Vegas with 50 per cent retained

Return:

2027 1st
2027 2nd, becomes a first if Vegas wins Cup this year

In terms of numbers, Andersson has 10 goals, 30 points and 53 penalty minutes this season.
He also recently surpassed the 200-assist mark in the NHL, a milestone that says a lot about his journey since his early days in Calgary.
For the Montreal Canadiens, this kind of trade mainly serves as a benchmark.
When a defenseman is moved with 50% salary retention and the price looks like that, the entire market suddenly resets itself.
Let's just say Kent Hughes has to be looking at this with a very sharp pencil.
