Blues GM Gives Odd Reason Why He Accepted the Bolduc Trade With Montreal
Doug Armstrong accepted the trade offer from the Montreal Canadiens "because sometimes you have to take risks"
Regarding Zachary Bolduc, the Blues' GM said he's fully aware that Bolduc is going to become "one heck of an NHL player," but he still wanted to take a risk.
I'm not entirely sure I understand his logic, but hey, that's good news for the Montreal Canadiens!
Blues GM Doug Armstrong today on trading Zack Bolduc to the Habs:
"He had a great 2nd half of the season, I think he's gonna be a hell of an NHL player.. it was gut-wrenching because of my thought process on how good Bolduc can be. But at some point you have to take risks.."

He didn't say it directly, but rumors are circulating that the Blues want to completely shift their philosophy and build from the back end.
That might explain things a bit better.
It was during an interview with NHL Network that Armstrong commented on the trade, speaking positively about Logan Mailloux.
"He's a right-handed defenseman who skates very well and has an excellent shot from the point," Armstrong said of Mailloux.
"NHL defensemen take longer to develop and reach full maturity. It's a calculated risk."

Let's hope it works out for them, because for now, the Montreal Canadiens appear to be the big winners of this fairly major trade.
Time will tell over the next few years!
