In the last few moments, as reported notably by Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston, the Arizona Coyotes have placed two players on waivers.
"The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Zack Kassian and defenseman Patrik Nemeth on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out their contracts."
They will therefore be free agents.
Kassian, 32 years old, was the 13th overall pick in 2009. He scored 2 points in 51 games last season with the Coyotes, and he was earning $3.2 million per season until 2024. (prior to the buyout)
Nemeth, 31 years old, was the 41st overall pick in 2010. He scored 5 points in 75 games last season with the Coyotes, and he was earning $2.5 million per season until 2024. (prior to the buyout)
More details to follow.
