Trade concluded between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings last month: we just had a nice example of self-mockery from Norman Flynn
It had caused a lot of chatter in Quebec, but towards the end of August, analyst Norman Flynn gave us a memorable radio moment for his first column of the season on the airwaves of BPM Sports.
He had declared the following after the trade concluded last month between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings involving Jeff Petry:
"Jeff Petry, in my opinion, he will be traded quite quickly, because he clearly indicated that he no longer wanted to play for the Montreal Canadiens and that he no longer wanted to play in Montreal, so it is very likely that we will hear before the start of the season that he will be traded elsewhere.
I doubt he will play a game of the season with Montreal, that's my thought and I believe that is what several NHL analysts also think. [...]
We just need to find out where Petry will be traded before the start of the season." - Norman Flynn
The problem is indeed that he made this statement about two weeks after Jeff Petry had already been traded to Detroit. Norman obviously did not know.
A nice addition to the blooper category!
In short, in the last few hours, the same Norman Flynn has given us a very nice example of self-mockery, by publishing the following video:
Wow, we love it! This is how he announced his grand return on the airwaves of RDS, on the set of 5 à 7.
Even though he will not be returning to BPM Sports, he will indeed still be present in the world of sports media in Quebec, at RDS.
