Trade announced with two teams: Kent Hughes and the Canadiens hit a home run in the case of Sean Monahan
Sean Monahan is proving to everyone that he is still a player capable of producing offensively, and let's just say the Calgary Flames would like to have him in their lineup.
The Winnipeg Jets made a solid move by acquiring him through a trade from the Montreal Canadiens.
It is remembered that Kent Hughes had acquired him from the Flames in the summer of 2022 along with a first-round pick in 2025, in exchange for future considerations.
We are talking here about a real masterstroke on the part of the Canadiens' GM.
A renowned insider has just made a publication confirming that Kent Hughes hit a home run by acquiring him. (and then trading him to the Jets)
In a publication he shared via his X account, Frank Seravalli made many realize that Kent Hughes ends up with two first-round picks with the acquisition of Sean Monahan.
"When all is said and done, the CH will end up with 2 first-round picks for Sean Monahan.
One to take him from the Flames, another for now."
And it's now done! The Canadiens were able to obtain another first-round pick, that of the Winnipeg Jets.
"Solid acquisition for the Jets for the end of the season and the playoffs.
Kent Hughes thus obtained a 1st round pick to acquire Monahan from the Flames, then another 1st round pick to trade him to the Jets. Plus another pick. Wow!" - Patrick Friolet, RDS
This season, Monahan has collected 35 points in 49 games, including 11 points in his team's last seven games.
