The verdict has just come in for Alex Barré-Boulet, the Montreal Canadiens have officially decided to overlook him
The verdict we were waiting for has just been delivered.
Dynamic Quebecois forward Alex Barré-Boulet, whose story greatly resembles that of Jonathan Marchessault, was ultimately overlooked in the NHL waivers.
It's a big surprise since his career will now continue with the Syracuse Crunch, but last season, Barré-Boulet clearly showed he's too strong for the AHL, accumulating 84 points in 69 games. (plus two points per game in the playoffs)
In fact, since turning pro in 2018, ABB is the second-highest scorer in the entire AHL. He has 284 points in 271 games.
He will have to wait a little longer.
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens apparently didn't find a player to claim off waivers this year, as they did with Johnatan Kovacevic last year.
