In a very interesting interview with Radio-Canada, Kent Hughes made a statement that truly pleases us and will surely please you.

Despite overlooking Matvei Michkov in the last draft, he is aware that his organization needs to add top-end talent, at all positions.

Hughes knows he has many good young players on his team, but he still needs to acquire a few elite ones.

It happens that contracts of players like Elias Pettersson and William Nylander are coming to an end, and a name like Yaroslav Askarov is currently on the trading block.

What's ideal is that Hughes has the assets and will soon have the cap space to attempt such big moves.

The Canadiens' GM added that he's fully aware it will be difficult to draft players of this caliber, so he will have to acquire them in other ways (obviously via trades).

The Canadiens need to add a few star players to complete their rebuild, and Kent Hughes knows it very well!

This is very exciting! Hughes is on the case and is closely watching what's happening in the NHL!

We have often drawn parallels with the rapid rebuild of Jeff Gorton's New York Rangers.

Kirby Dach is our Mika Zibanejad.

Juraj Slafkovsky is our Kaapo Kakko.

Will Lane Hutson be our Adam Fox?

Could Yaroslav Askarov be our Igor Shesterkin?

Could Elias Pettersson be our Artemi Panarin?

Stay tuned, but I love what I heard from the Habs' GM here.

«I'm not sure we have enough top-end talent in all areas: offense, defense, or goaltending. We will always want to add more. Whether it's through the draft, through trades, or both? That remains to be seen.» - Kent Hughes
