Signing Alert: Hometown Defenseman from Laval, 24-Year-Old Simon Benoit, Signs with the Maple Leafs
In the last few minutes, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced the signing of a 6-foot-3, 205-pound Quebecer defenseman.
Simon Benoit, originally from Laval, has just signed a one-season contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. We're talking about a deal worth a total of $775,000.
Benoit, 24 years old, is a big defenseman who collected 43 points with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the QMJHL.
In his NHL career, he has 15 points in 137 games, including 10 points in 78 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks.
He adds some nice depth to the left side of the Leafs' defensive squad.
