Among his good moves, there were the acquisitions of Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook who, despite their injuries this season, represent a very nice offensive potential and it will be interesting to follow their respective careers with the Canadiens.

But these two forwards have something in common, it's that Hughes went to get them only a few years after being drafted in the first round and the scenario could very well repeat itself very soon.

As reported by Keven Mawn, of website GoNordiques.com, there are some rumors circulating to the effect that Kent Hughes was discussing with his counterpart from the New Jersey Devils to conclude a transaction.

That said, the observer Bob Task, very active on X, suggested that the Canadiens should acquire Alexander Holtz.

Somewhat like Dach and Newhook, the young 21-year-old Swedish forward had a rather timid start with the Devils but things seem to be falling into place this season, as he has collected 19 points, including nine goals in 37 games so far.

It is evident that the addition of an excellent forward would be beneficial for the CH because with the many injuries this year, Martin St-Louis would certainly not say no to some reinforcement.

However, as Holtz represents a top prospect for the Devils and seems to have unlocked this season, the price to pay for Kent Hughes could be very high and I doubt he would sacrifice assets from his team to improve this season.

I would like to remind you that despite some progress, the Canadiens remain a team in rebuild.
