This is major and probably the most interesting takeaway from the press conference by General Manager Kent Hughes.
He showed commendable transparency by directly confirming that another trade is on the horizon for the Montreal Canadiens before the start of the season.
Hughes won't keep four goalies in Montreal.
"Kent Hughes told Casey DeSmith to be patient. He could be traded, or a transaction might be made to allow him to play in MTL. This situation will develop before the start of the season."
- Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports Wow. So, we understand that yes, Casey DeSmith might be traded soon, but more importantly, we learn that possibly another goalie could leave to make room for DeSmith in Montreal.
Interesting.
One might assume that Samuel Montembeault won't be moving anytime soon, but this strongly suggests that Jake Allen could be relocated.
This will be a fascinating situation to monitor over the next few days, now that Hughes has indirectly confirmed that DeSmith and Allen are indeed on the trade market.
Which one do you think should leave? Allen or DeSmith?
Let's also not forget the following curious statement:
