As we reported earlier today, it's official!

Kent Hughes didn't wait until the NHL trade deadline, and he has already traded the excellent Sean Monahan.

Monahan Involved in a Trade with the Winnipeg Jets

Clearly, the Jets are going "all-in" this season, and Monahan is a significant acquisition for them.
It's a considerable loss for Martin St-Louis's team, and it's going to hurt Juraj Slafkovsky, who was really starting to bloom alongside Monahan. (Slafkovsky and Monahan were playing so well together)
In short, here's the complete return:
"Sean Monahan to the Jets for a 1st round pick and a conditional pick." - Darren Dreger

To The Jets
Sean Monahan

To the Habs
2024 1st Rd Pick
Conditional 2027 3rd Rd Pick

No salary retained.

-Frank Seravalli
The Canadiens are thus adding to their bank of picks again.
Our first reaction was to think "That's it," especially after EVERYTHING the Flames got for Elias Lindholm, but still, it remains a first-round draft pick. (which will normally be between the 26th and 32nd overall pick)
Reminder of what the Flames got for Lindholm:
- Andrei Kuzmenko
- Joni Jurmo (a prospect)
- Hunter Brzustewicz (an excellent prospect)
- A 1st round pick 2024
- A 4th round pick 2024
All that, for a player of the same age and with exactly the same production as Monahan.
Yes, we were expecting more from Kent Hughes... And you?
