Last minute development on the timing of Christian Dvorak's trade
For several weeks now, and particularly since the acquisition of Alex Newhook, the name of Christian Dvorak has been coming up a lot in trade rumors.
However, on this subject, in the past few hours, the former scout for the Montreal Canadiens, Grant McCagg, mentioned this:
"Don't expect Dvorak to be traded before the trade deadline. First off, he's injured. Secondly, Dach and Newhook are far from being at 50% in faceoffs, in their NHL careers, so far... His skills in the faceoff circle are necessary until they (Newhook and Dach) improve." - Grant McCagg
Is the timing of the trade being pushed back?
Contrary to what Elliotte Friedman recently mentioned, the time when Dvorak could be traded might not be so imminent.
It would go to the next trade deadline.
McCagg adds:
"I don't see the urgency to trade a 27-year-old center who is one of only two on the team to win more faceoffs than he loses, the other being often injured Monahan. The Canadiens don't need more draft picks, and you can never have too many centers as they can be moved to the wing."
That's not false.
Dvorak, 27 years old, accumulated 28 points in 64 games last season. He earns $4.45 million per season until 2025.
His trade could therefore wait, but anyway, let's admit he's not the biggest burden on Kent Hughes at the moment.
