Kent Hughes' move: interesting statement involving Shane Wright of the Kraken and the Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Casey DeSmith
As the case of the four goalies of the Montreal Canadiens continues to draw attention, an interesting solution has just been raised.
To go from four to three, it is imagined that
Cayden Primeau will be placed on the NHL waivers, but Kent Hughes will still have to make another move to go from three to two.
This could come through a trade, but it could also come through the "
Shane Wright technique" used by the Seattle Kraken.
The Canadiens could indeed reserve the Shane Wright treatment for one of their goalies (probably
Casey DeSmith).
If the CH is forced to start the season with three goalies, for lack of a better solution, here is the solution presented by Jonathan Bernier, of the Journal de Montréal:
"There is also the possibility of bypassing the waiver by sending a player (in this case, a goalie) who has been inactive for a certain time to the minors for a period of 14 days.
In the meantime, DeSmith could provide good services to the Canadiens." - Jonathan Bernier
So, if the Canadiens still have the same third goalie on the trading block, they could emulate what the Kraken did with Shane Wright last season! This goalie would become eligible to play with the Laval Rocket for some time, and it would buy precious time for Kent Hughes.
Something to keep in mind!
