Since he was acquired from the Dallas Stars before the trade deadline in exchange for Evgeny Dadonov, it is safe to say that Denis Gurianov has acclimated well to his new environment with the Habs.
Even though Dadonov has already collected eight points in 11 games with the Stars, the Canadiens' newcomer has not done badly at all, with five goals and two assists in 12 games, after only managing two goals before his arrival in Montreal this season.
While the sample of what we've seen from Gurianov is pretty short so far, he does have some attributes that could make him a real steal from Kent Hughes if he can ever reach his full potential with the Habs and even one veteran reporter went ahead and made a pretty interesting comparison regarding Gurianov.
As reported by Fanadiens.com, RDS's Francois Gagnon believes the Habs could have a new Josh Anderson in their possession!
If Gurianov develops to the point of becoming a player comparable to Josh Anderson, Kent Hugues' head will be in high demand in Dallas. Much like Marc Bergevin's was in Chicago when he acquired Phillip Daneault in exchange for Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischman.-F.Gagnon
Well ok, it's way too premature to claim that Denis Gurianov will become the new Josh Anderson, but there are still some similarities between the two players in terms of speed, shooting and also physicality.
We'll have to wait and see if the veteran journalist is right, as Gurianov will be a compensated free agent at the end of the season, but it's a safe bet that the Habs' management is pretty happy with what they saw. Thus, the Russian forward could be back in Montreal in 2023-2024.
