A turn of events for Kent Hughes: Pierre-Luc Dubois has completely changed his mind
In the last few minutes, reporter Darren Dreger has released a disappointing update concerning Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Montreal Canadiens.
"I'm told that the Montreal Canadiens did indeed try to get back in the race for Pierre-Luc Dubois, but they couldn't gain ground. Montreal has 'future' assets, but Winnipeg needs players ready for the NHL.
LA has that and it seems that Pierre-Luc Dubois prefers the option of signing with the Los Angeles Kings. Story in development." - Darren Dreger
Wow! "Pierre-Luc Dubois prefers the option of signing with the Los Angeles Kings." That's big. So, the Quebecer forward has apparently changed his mind about his favorite destination.
To sum it up, Kent Hughes really tried to improve his offer for Dubois, but the Kings don't want prospects and draft picks.
They want players like Kirby Dach, which the Canadiens will never agree to, rightfully so. And moreover, it turns out that Dubois prefers the Kings.
Dreger then adds that Montreal will remain an intriguing team this week. The Canadiens really want to acquire another player similar to Dubois, or like Kirby Dach, and Kent Hughes knows he has plenty of elements to pay for it.
So Hughes has a plan B and a plan C. It's clearly not going to work out for Dubois, but he could still acquire another solid young established player.
