Missing: Terrible news announced for Connor McDavid and the Oilers
A very bad piece of news has just fallen for Connor McDavid's team, as an important player for the Edmonton Oilers was missing today.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the 1st overall pick in 2011, was indeed absent from the Oilers and did not show up at the arena because he is really sick.
«Ryan Nugent-Hopkins did not come to the rink today. He has a fever. Kane is taking his place in practice.» - Mark Spector, Sportsnet
Obviously, it is expected that he will fight through this illness and play in tomorrow night's Game 7, but he clearly won't be at 100%.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is ill and not feeling well
It's far from ideal for the Oilers to see one of their best players fall sick at the worst possible moment (and be contagious), but right now, we feel like nothing can stop them.
We are so looking forward to tomorrow night.
Let's hope Nugent-Hopkins can get better by tomorrow night and take on his usual role in Edmonton's lineup for this crucial game. This will be a situation to follow over the next few hours.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, 31 years old, has collected 67 points in 80 games this season, after having accumulated 104 points in 82 games last season.
In these 2024 NHL playoffs, he has 21 points in 23 games.
He is truly solid!
Here is today's lineup for the Edmonton Oilers:
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is not there.
Kane* - McDavid - Hyman
Foegele - Draisaitl - Holloway
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
McLeod - Ryan - Perry
Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Broberg
Kulak - Ceci
Skinner
Pickard
It promises to be exciting!
