Everything was decided last night.
However, we've spoken much less about it here, but another big series was decided last night for the fans of Florida.
The Miami Heat eliminated the Boston Celtics in seven games, to join the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Final.
Based on what we're reading, this historic run of the Miami Heat is hurting Gary Bettman and the NHL.
Just as all of Florida could have turned its attention to the Stanley Cup Final, hockey will once again play second fiddle, as basketball will be the most followed sport in Florida in the coming days.
This is definitely not ideal for boosting the popularity of NHL hockey in the United States, quite the opposite.
Fans will only have eyes for basketball.
As our colleagues at Marqueur point out, in addition to being a fairly unexpected final, it is possibly one of the worst possible scenarios for the viewing ratings of the matches. We should expect them to be extremely disappointing.
It's ironic to see that the NBA will do a lot of harm to the NHL and Gary Bettman, especially knowing that Bettman is a former executive director of the NBA. It's what made him known, but today, his old love is coming back to haunt him.
