Tragic scene as athlete passes away during a swimming competition

A truly tragic scene unfolded live at the CrossFit Games, as 28-year-old athlete Lazar Dukic passed away under horrific circumstances.
As athletes are currently in the spotlight worldwide, and with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games underway, a real tragedy has just occurred.
Lazar Dukic disappears underwater during the competition and never resurfaces
Dukic, who was only 28 years old, was participating in a competition at the CrossFit Games when he suddenly disappeared underwater.
He was very close to the finish line.
In the last few hours, it was announced that his body was found and that he has passed away.
We are absolutely speechless.
We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and family. This is a true nightmare.
It happened during an 800-meter swim, around 8 AM.
Two hours after he disappeared underwater, his body was recovered, and the worst was confirmed.

All events and competitions scheduled for the rest of the day have been canceled.
Dukic was an athlete from Serbia, and a true high-level competitor.
He was highly esteemed by his team and deeply respected by his opponents.
He was a seasoned competitor in these types of events, so this was not new to him at all. Dukic was ranked 88th in the world and 3rd best in his country�just imagine.
All our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy.
