Team owner gets his revenge on Gary Bettman in the best possible way
A transaction announced at the worst possible time continues to create a buzz today in the NHL, with many talking about revenge against Gary Bettman.
We didn't really have time to delve into the subject, especially since it was during Game 7 of the Stanley Cup, but what about the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins, who announced a major trade literally 15 minutes before the NHL's game of the year?
They could have done it afterward, or even during this draft weekend in Las Vegas?
Michael Andlauer's revenge against Gary Bettman?
Andlauer, a former minority shareholder of the Montreal Canadiens who is now the owner of the Ottawa Senators, knew very well that it would cause a commotion.
Obviously, 15 minutes before Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, the entire hockey world temporarily stopped talking about the ultimate game and everyone started talking about the Linus Ullmark trade.
A distraction Gary Bettman could have done without.
Why would Andlauer want to send a little message to the commissioner? Let's recall that a few days after his purchase of the Sens, the NHL announced a heavy penalty against the franchise.
They lost a valuable first-round pick (due to the botched trade for Evgeny Dadonov).
«During his first press conference as the new owner, Andlauer had addressed the situation, clearly expressing his dissatisfaction with the league's decision that cost him a first-round pick for an event over which he had no control before his arrival.
But it is said that revenge is a dish best served cold.»

While Gary Bettman wanted maximum media exposure, he asked the 30 other teams not to make any major announcements.
The Ottawa Senators made a big one, 15 minutes before the national anthems of the ultimate game. Wow.
«The announcement was made right during the pre-game warm-up, creating a certain media eclipse and surely making Bettman red with anger.»
- Marco Normandin
Many clearly see this as a little revenge against Bettman.
«The Senators' announcement of the Ullmark trade 15 minutes before Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final timing that Gary Bettman must hate is obviously a response to that, isn't it?» - HabsLinks, speaking of the penalty imposed on Ottawa
It's stirring things up, but we love it!
Details to follow.
