We have some action on the NHL waiver wire today, and Montreal Canadiens general manager, Kent Hughes, has his first real decision to make.
While most of the players placed on waivers so far seem to have limited potential, we now have a very interesting name.
Among the eight players currently on waivers today, one stands out in particular.
Additionally, Utah Hockey's management has placed forward
Egor Sokolov on waivers.
But let's focus on Denisenko. He is certainly the player with the highest potential who is currently available for free, and he is likely the first player who will make Kent Hughes stop and consider.
A decision will need to be made, as the Canadiens are among the five teams with priority to claim players on waivers.
Denisenko, 24 years old, is a 5-foot-11, 196-pound forward. He was the 15th overall pick by the Florida Panthers in 2018 (1st round) and has 32 games of NHL experience.
He also put up a solid 56 points in 65 games in the AHL last season. He was, in fact, claimed off waivers in October 2023.
Do you think Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton should give this dynamic and highly talented forward a chance?
