The name Brad Marchand is well known to Montreal Canadiens fans. Beloved teammate but hated rival, he continues to amaze the hockey world in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, even at 37 years old.
While Marchand is currently a key piece for the Florida Panthers, let's not forget that his contract ends on July 1st. He'll be completely free at that point, and it will be very difficult for Bill Zito to keep him.
Could he suddenly become an option for a team like the Montreal Canadiens?
We now have a bit more detail on that.
Brad Marchand clearly announces his demands: Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens know what to do if they want him
It's already been reported that Marchand will likely cost $7 to $8 million per year, but in his case, the term is what could make all the difference.
Well, now we have an answer to that as well!
"Brad Marchand is looking for a 3- to 4-year deal; bidders are probably willing to do that" - Chris Johnston
So it would take a contract of 3 to 4 years, with an annual value of $7 to $8 million, to sign Marchand.
At 37 years old, Marchand, 5 feet 9 inches and 180 pounds, recorded 51 points in 71 games this season - but more impressively, he's put up a strong 18 points in 21 games during the 2025 playoffs.
