Regarding the great return of forward Corey Perry to the NHL, which was confirmed as being possible last night, renowned insider Pierre LeBrun wanted to make an important clarification.
"Gary Bettman didn't actually need to «clear» Corey Perry because the commissioner hadn't barred him from playing to begin with. But Bettman met with Perry at the player's request."

Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens (as well as any other club for that matter) can therefore sign him knowing that everything has been done correctly.
Imagine. Perry didn't even have to ask Bettman's permission and he did it anyway and he made a point of meeting him because he wanted to be absolutely sure he was doing things right.
The next step will be to watch which team will sign Perry in the coming days and to finish the season, if a team does.
It can technically be announced at any minute.
In order to participate in the 2024 playoffs, Perry must sign before the NHL trade deadline.
And you, would you like the Canadiens to sign him?
