In the last few weeks, Kent Hughes added Jayden Struble and Emil Heineman to the Laval Rocket roster. It seems, from what we can understand, that the GM is not finished, as he is looking to make another signing.
While appearing on the Got Yer' Back Podcast with reporters Ryan Rishaug and Pierre LeBrun, Hughes said he was open to bringing young Sean Farrell to Montreal as soon as he finishes his college campaign. Here's what he mentioned:
"He's currently still competing for the championship so out of respect for him and Harvard University, I don't want to get too deep into it to allow him to focus on that. However, I can say that as soon as his season is over, I will definitely call him to explore with him what the next steps will be. We would love to have him in Montreal but he has another year of studies to complete so it will be his choice if he wants to come immediately or not. I will discuss it shortly with him and his agent." - Kent Hughes
It could all come to fruition, as we told you Monday, this Friday March 24th when Harvard takes on another CH prospect, Ohio State goalie Jakub Dobes.
Farrell, who was selected 124th (4th round) in the 2020 draft, has accumulated 20 goals and 32 assists for a total of 52 points in 33 games this season with Harvard University. He was selected, along with Lane Hutson, as a top-10 finalist for the prestigious Hobey Baker Trophy.
Farrell wants to sign with Montreal, and now we learn that Montreal wants to sign Farrell. So it seems to be really imminent.
Another prospect to watch in the next few days, and who could have the same fate as Struble or Heineman: defenseman Miguel Tourigny. In his first season with his Slovakian team, Tourigny accumulated 6 goals and 20 assists, for a total of 26 points, in 43 games. He finished the season ranked 5th in scoring with his team.
