A Canadiens jersey with Connor Bedard's number 98 was prepared over twenty years ago
As the highly anticipated NHL Draft lottery for 2023 approaches, the Connor Bedard fever will become increasingly palpable in Montreal and throughout the province.
The fateful date is May 8th, and until then, all hopes are allowed.
For those who are superstitious, here's an absolutely incredible story, told on the airwaves of 98.5 Sports.
You read that right, a Montreal Canadiens jersey with Connor Bedard's name on it has existed for over 20 years.
Invited to Mario Langlois' show, restaurateur Jean Bédard recounted an incredible story.
A premonitory anecdote, many hope.
In 1998, the president of the Canadiens at the time, Ronald Corey, offered a Canadiens sweater to Jean Bédard. On the back of the iconic jersey, one can read Bédard... with the number 98.
You know, if we ever get the first pick in the draft, my jersey is going to be worth a lot! It's going to be very relevant! Connor Bedard wears number 98... so I'm keeping it. It might come in handy for me next year.
