Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has just announced very sad news involving his star forward Mark Scheifele.
Scheifele's father has passed away, right in the middle of the playoff series between the Jets and the Dallas Stars.
He was well known and loved within the organization, so this is a tragedy for the entire team, but of course, it's especially a nightmare for Scheifele.
We can't even imagine what he's going through right now.

"Winnipeg GM Kevin Cheveldayoff told reporters a few minutes ago that Mark Scheifele's father, Brad, passed away during the night.
Head coach Scott Arniel went to the team hotel to be with Scheifele.

We want to offer our most sincere condolences to Scheifele, who is undoubtedly experiencing the worst "game day" of his life.
Let's not forget that the Winnipeg Jets are facing elimination tonight, with puck drop at 8:00 PM against the Stars, live from Dallas.
It's a cruel reality, and Scheifele will somehow have to find a way to play.
For now, all indications are that he will still be in the lineup.
