Many Canadiens fans would love to see Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton use one of those picks to acquire that elusive top-six forward the team is missing.
While that option seems fairly likely, it's a whole different story when it comes to the scenario of the Canadiens trading up in the first round of the upcoming draft.
We know that the 2025 class is very strong at the top, but according to some experts, things drop off a bit starting at the 10th pick.
As reported by DansLesCoulisses, one of the most respected prospects experts, Scott Wheeler of The Athletic, hosted a Q&A session ahead of the 2025 draft.

Scott Wheeler Weighs In on Trade Offer Involving the Montreal Canadiens and Seattle Kraken Ahead of 2025 Draft

When asked by a fan whether he would prefer the 16th and 17th picks or the eighth overall selection, here was his response:
"Would you rather have Seattle's eighth overall pick, or Montreal's 16th and 17th picks? - Fan named Daryl W.

"Seattle, probably." - Scott Wheeler

Based on his response, it might not be worth it for the Canadiens organization to give up both the 16th and 17th picks, or even a top prospect, to move up.
According to this expert, a proposed trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Seattle Kraken involving the 8th, 16th, and 17th overall picks in 2025 would likely be declined.
And you, would you do it?
