After all, he himself has mentioned that he would like to end his career in the KHL.
Now that he has broken
Wayne Gretzky's famous record for the most career goals in the NHL..
Will he continue his career?
Strange response from Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery regarding Alex Ovechkin's return next season
The question was indeed asked last night, following the Caps' elimination against the
Carolina Hurricanes. Here's how Carbery responded:
"Spencer Carbery said it's his understanding Alex Ovechkin will be back next year, since he's under contract."

And Carbery's reaction spoke volumes.
Of course, he said Ovechkin "should" be back next year, but just the fact there seems to be some doubt sparked a lot of discussion.
Could the great Alex Ovechkin end his NHL career sooner than expected?
Is that a real possibility right now?
If not, could next season be his last in the NHL?
We'll have to keep an eye on it, but let's just say Carbery's answer has definitely stirred conversation in the past few hours and cast some doubt.
The question is worth asking.. Is it over for Ovechkin?
