We have an update regarding the young Montreal Canadiens forward, Ivan Demidov.
The word had been circulating for a few hours, but the rumor has now officially been confirmed!
Demidov has indeed been nominated for the Alexei Cherepanov Award, the individual honor given to the Rookie of the Year in the KHL.
It's a great accomplishment and gives him a chance to pull off an extremely rare feat, being named Rookie of the Year in both the KHL and NHL in back-to-back years, if he has a strong 2025-2026 campaign.

That means the Montreal Canadiens could have on their roster the Rookie of the Year in both the NHL and the KHL - no small feat!
"Congratulations to Ivan Demidov on his nomination for KHL Rookie of the Year."

We're extremely happy for Ivan!
"2024-2025 season was simply outstanding.
The right winger broke
Kirill Kaprizov's record for the most points by a player under 20 years old in the KHL.
His main competition for the Rookie of the Year title will be goaltender Semyon Vyazovoi."

The other nominee is
Yegor Surin, a first-round pick by the Nashville Predators in 2024 (22nd overall).
We'll keep you posted on the results, but I truly believe that Demidov, like
Lane Hutson, has a strong shot at winning it.
Surin recorded 14 points in 41 games this season in the KHL, along with 6 points in 16 playoff games.
